Birr Photography Group was established in November 2008 at The Tin Jug Studio by a small group of photographic enthusiasts. The purpose of the group is to promote photographic skills and knowledge in Birr and the surrounding area. All members are keen amateur photographers with skills ranging from beginner to advanced. Members are encouraged to expand their knowledge and abilities as photographers by learning from and teaching their fellow enthusiasts. The group has regular meetings, talks, discussions and demonstrations on a variety of photographic topics at Craughwell’s Pub, Castle Street, Birr.

  1. Hello ,
I am interested in getting involved with the Birr Photography Group .

For the past 8 years we have lived at Fancroft Mill & Gardens ,on the outskirts of Roscrea ,straddling the Offaly / Tipperary border . With keeping a photographic record of the conservation project of the Mill and recording the wonderful unfolding of the seasons in the extensive Gardens , I now have a significant archive of images ,all logged on the computer.

My camera is just a simple Canon digital ,IXUS 8015.

I would really value advice /insttruction on manipulating these as well as learning other skills from a group . We would be very happy to host visits to the Mill & Gardens should members be interested …..other photography clubs find the site very interesting .

I would be free to participate in regular ,tho’ not too frequent ,meetings once Easter is past .

I wonder do you have a space for such a member ?

    Kind regards ,

    • Hi Irene, Thanks for getting in touch. You’d be very welcome to join Birr Photography Group. We meet in Craughwell’s Pub, Castle Street, Birr every Thursday from 8pm. It just so happens we are having a “New Members Night” tomorrow on 6th February in Craughwell’s. You can contact me at robertrevill@hotmail.com or phone Julien at 086 152 0605. If you can’t make tomorrow, please come along to another meeting. I would be very interested in arranging a visit to the Mill. Thanks, Rob Revill (Secretary of Birr Photography Group)
