Refraction Photography Workshop 24th March 2016

Workshop on “Refraction Photography” by Terry Smith for Birr Photography Group in Craughwell’s Pub, Birr, County Offaly, Ireland on 24th March 2016.

Refraction is the bending of light as it passes from one substance to another. Here, the light rays pass from air to glass and back to air. The bending is caused by the differences in density between the two substances.
The Workshop aim was to capture the refraction of light using glasses of water against a stripy background to create striking abstract images. The lighting was straightforward, a regular camera flashgun was more than adequate. You don’t need any fancy equipment or complicated camera techniques to achieve amazing results.

Notes for this workshop are in the “Members Only” section of this site – “Refraction Photography”.
